What’s it about

  • This is a hands-on workshop to learn how to transform local invasive plant species into handmade, textured paper. Through pulping, blending, pressing and drying, participants will turn plants such as giant reed, mimosa, pampas grass and other fiber-rich invasive plants into unique paper sheets.

  • The session covers fiber identification and preparation, soda-ash boiling (or similar fiber-extraction technique), pulp preparation, and paper-making with creative fiber blending.

  • At the end of the workshop, each participant will leave with their own handmade paper samples ready to use or to inspire future creative uses.

Instructor & Host

The workshop is led by designer/eco-maker Souad Ghaffari, working together with BioLab Lisboa.

Why this matters (and why you maybe read it first on our blog)

We initially announced a paper-making workshop at BioLab on our blog earlier this year under the title “Paper making workshop this December in Lisbon (BioLab)”. At the time, we were still finalizing details and promised a follow-up.
Now, the workshop is live on Eventbrite, with date, time, price, and registration link and we couldn’t be more excited.

  • Acquire practical skills in natural fiber processing and handmade paper production,

  • Take home your own handmade paper, ready for further creative expression,

  • Connect with like-minded people and the BioLab Lisboa community.

    See you there!
